LONDON Reuters reported that a British man is seeking compensation for a medical misdiagnosis that encouraged the man to go on a spending spree. 62-year-old John Brandrick was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer nearly two years ago and told he would likely only live for a year. Given the bleak diagnosis, Brandrick quit his job, sold or gave away most of his possessions, and spent his remaining money on lavish leisure activities. After a year, Brandrick was informed that the supposed pancreatic tumor was in fact a non-life threatening pancreatic inflammation. At the time, Brandricks assets had been reduced to his house and the suit he intended to wear for his funeral… more
WELLINGTON, New Zealand The associated Press reported on a bungled jailbreak that occurred on Saturday in Wellington, New Zealand. The intruder broke into an empty police station in the town of Matamata on NorthIsland through the front office, and then accidentally locked himself into the cell block when a self-closing door clicked shut. As police responded to the posts alarm, the intruder freed himself by smashing the supposedly shatter-proof window glass with a wooden chair. The intruder fled to freedom through the police station front office as the responding officers were closing in from the back of the station. No one knows why the intruder broke into the station, and no stolen items were reported… more

BERLIN According to Reuters, police responded to a German girls plea for help over a messy room on Monday. Alarmed pedestrians called the authorities when the distressed nine-year-old held up a sign in her bedroom window that said, “Help! LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. – Yahoo News reported that 18-year-old Damien Mosher was injured while hitting bullets with a hammer on May 15. Mosher was attempting to empty brass shell casings by whacking them with a hammer in order to salvage the metal for scrap metal. What was approximately the 100th bullet hit the teen caused the injury. Mosher suffered a bullet wound to his abdomen as a result of his hammering efforts… more
